Our biggest fundraiser needs you!

Once every two years, our Parent Association hosts an AGLC Casino Fundraiser — and it's our most impactful event by far. 

This year's casino takes place on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 at Pure Casino Yellowhead, and we're looking for volunteers to help make it a success. If we are unable to fill our volunteer commitment, we could lose our ability to host these casinos in the future - and the funding for our school that comes with them.

Why It Matters

Each casino raises approximately $75,000 for our school. These funds go directly toward enriching student experiences, providing:

• Chromebooks and classroom technology

• Residence programs like DanceEd 

• Library books and learning resources

• Field trips

• Art, music, and physical education resources

What to Expect as a Volunteer

• No experience necessary — all training is provided

• A meal is included to thank you for your time

• The satisfaction of knowing your volunteer time directly benefits Esther Starkman students

Get Involved

Volunteering is open to all school community members - parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, anyone who wants to support ESS! 

Shifts are available on both Friday and Saturday, days and evenings.

Your generous support of our fundraising activities has a direct impact on initiatives at the school!! 

Here are a few examples of what your support is helping our Parent Association to achieve:

• Purchasing new books and resources for our library and our classrooms through Scholastic Book Fair.  

• Purchasing resources such as new drums for the music room, gym equipment and Chromebooks.

• Providing funding for classroom field trips. 

• Providing school community events such as Healthy Hunger hot lunches, glow dances and spring Carnival. 

• Providing a fresh fruit basket in the office for students to take if they need it.

• Supporting student winter and spring music concerts. 

• Supporting our staff with regular appreciation initiatives including breakfast for PD Days and treats in the staff room.
